OVERVIEW

The very foundation of an engineering student is laid with his/her knowledge in the basic science which includes mathematics, physics and chemistry. Apart from technical knowledge base, an individual aspires to be an ideal professional through strengthening his ideologies to emerge as a successful human being. Alongside the knowledge of basic science application, humanities and communication makes him complete engineering professional in all aspects. The department of Basic Science and Humanities at BCREC provides the students an appropriate platform for enhancing their basic knowledge skills in mathematics, physics, and chemistry as well as train them in professional English communication and corporate business etiquettes which making them grow up and mature with an ideal ethical understanding and value judgement. The department provides well-equipped labs to make the students excel in the various applications of physics, chemistry and mathematics in engineering. The department caters to the basic need of language development of the students for excelling in communication through business communication classes and focusses on honing the soft skill of the students through specially equipped language laboratory to make them successful not only during campus recruitment but also in every sphere of their professional life.

History bears witness to the fact that mathematics is the most important area in nature science and engineering. Applied mathematics is a branch of mathematics that deal with the mathematical methods that find its application in science, engineering, business as well as corporate industrial sectors with a most of academically excellent faculty members; the department caters to the students with the application of advanced analytical methods through operations research to help them make better decisions.

Engineering Physics is the study of combined disciplines of physics, engineering and mathematics in order to develop an understanding of the interrelationship of these three disciplines. The department of physics provides the platform to understand the broad applications of fundamental physics when combined with problem solving and engineering skills.

The department of chemistry engages in the application of chemistry in engineering by enriching the students with the knowledge of chemistry and chemical reaction that is required in the design and subsequent production of power generating equipment.

OVERVIEW

Departmental primary academic programs are in accordance with the prescribed curriculum of the affiliating university with additional emphasis on the fundamentals of Electronics & Communication Engineering so as to strengthen the foundation of the subject among young students.

ECE department is accredited by NBA (National Board of Accreditation) for the period 2017-2020.

A group of 2/3 students conduct experiments in laboratories under the supervision of concerned teachers and lab assistants. Final Year project works are primarily of industrial nature so that students may acquire deadline oriented problem solving skills. Special credit is attributed to projects which lead to a successful commercial product or a start-up. Due weightage is given to group discussion and seminars on contemporary and technical topics. This is an important component in engineering education because it helps the students to face the placement interviews with confidence. Department regularly initiates and hosts Technical and Non-Technical Workshops and Seminars on pertinent subjects of interest and need. Students of the department has successfully participated and won national competitions on Robotics, Machine Learning and Electronics such as Sankalp Hackathon and Smart India Hackathon (AICTE).

Their communication as well as technical skill are thus developed and synchronized. The objective is to achieve excellence by manifesting and inculcating the inherent knowledge of the student and help him occupy the best platform in his/her professional life. Department also endorses students with entrepreneurial skills to be a member of Entrepreneurship Cell specially designed to facilitate the process of business model generation.

Apart from all standard laboratories as per requirement of the affiliating university, there are few specialized laboratories for projects such as Advanced Communication Engineering Lab and Advanced Microelectronics & VLSI Lab for research and post-graduate studies. Department has a separate PCB and Enclosure fabrication unit attached with Innovation Lab partly funded by Texas Instruments for rapid prototyping needs. In addition to hardware resources, the department possess software simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Spice etc. A special emphasis is on Free and Open Source movement, thus encouraging and educating students on open source softwares. Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, BCREC is a pioneer in research and innovation headed by competent faculties as is reflected by in numerous publications in reputed journals.

OVERVIEW

Instrumentation Engineering is the most happening field in the world now. Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering is essentially the application of Electronics in the Field of Instrumentation Engineering. Instrumentation is defined as the arts and science of measurement and control of process parameters like temperature, pressure, flow-rate, humidity, density, viscosity, moistures, velocity etc. through proper designing and configuring of automated systems in electrical, pneumatic domains within a production or manufacturing area. To measure and control these parameters in a process or in a particular system, devices such as sensors, transducers, transmitters, microprocessors, microcontrollers, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Distributed Control System (DCS), Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) are used. Instrumentation engineers work with the industries with the goal of improving productivity, optimisation, stability, reliability, safety and continuity. Over the past three decades the field of instrumentation engineering is contributing in extremely widespread applications in the industries like

1. Process Industries such as Steel Plants, Refineries, Power plant, Chemical and Fertilizer plants, Textile industries, Petrochemical Industries, Food processing Industries. ,

Therefore, Instrumentation being one of the most important sought branches from the Industrial point of view, a combination of Electronics and Instrumentation would fetch high dividends for the students who take up Electronics and Instrumentation as their career course. Electronics and Instrumentation Engineers have a bright future ahead of them as they are needed by almost all Industries in various cadres like Design, Development, Fabrication, Inspection, Quality control, Maintenance, Service and so on. Roy Engineering College has started its journey from 2002. To produce Industry Ready Instrumentation Engineers, the department is fully equipped with modern laboratories, Smart classrooms and highly proficient professors who have their academic degrees from the reputed institutes like IIT (Kharagpur), IIT (Kanpur), Jadavpur University, IIST (Shibpur) and NITs. The department has close association with core Instrumentation MNCs like Jhonson Control (USA), Yokogawa (Japan) and others for building up effective Industry Institute interaction. OVERVIEW

Mechanical Engineering Department, established in the year 2003, produces graduates who can meet the needs of rapidly changing industry which demands new skills and knowledge of modern technology. The Department offers B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering and M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering. Vision of the Department is to deliver world-class education and research in Mechanical Engineering, with particular regard to their application in industry, healthcare and commerce in a diverse society. It has a conducive ambience and specialized laboratories like CAD-CAM & Robotics Lab, Mechatronics and Modern control Lab, etc along with conventional laboratories like Mechanical Workshops, Thermal lab, Dynamics of Machines Lab, etc. The infrastructure fully supports experiments as prescribed in MAKAUT curriculum. Separate Computer Laboratory was established for teaching computer aided design and analysis of devices using various software like AutoCAD, Creo, ANSYS etc. The department is facilitated with high speed internet connection for acquiring knowledge from the web. Undergraduate students get opportunity to involve themselves in high-end research work to build skills beyond curriculum. In addition to classes, the Department organizes regular visiting lectures delivered by Industry Experts and arranges industrial visits for both faculty and students. Postgraduate scholars are engaged in high-end research and publication activities.

Mechanical engineering department is the stronghold of highly qualified and industry-experienced faculties having their degrees from IITs, NITs, IIEST, Jadavpur University and other leading universities in India. All faculty members have M.Tech degree as base qualification with various specializations. Seven of them have PhD degree. The faculty members continuously update themselves through research, consultancy activities and through exposure visits, academic development programmes, etc. Faculty members and research scholars of BCREC published several research papers in peer reviewed journals and many papers were presented in national and international seminars/ conferences. Some of the research papers have been indexed in international databases like Scopus, Google scholars, SCI, Index Copernicus, etc.

Students of this department are placed in leading Industries and also in Government organization like IOC, SAIL, BHEL, Indian Railways, etc. Some of the ME students are pursuing their higher studies in IITs, NITs, etc. through GATE and also in foreign universities through GRE and TOEFL.
